Job Title: Psychometrist

Location: Asheville, Western North Carolina

Job Type: Part-time (25-26 hours/week), with potential for full-time expansion Work Schedule: Typically Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (8-9 hours per day)

About Collin Testing and Psychological Services: Collin Testing and Psychological Services is a solo psychological practice dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality psychological assessment services to individuals across Western North Carolina. Under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist, we serve a diverse patient population ranging from children (ages 5+) to older adults, helping to inform diagnoses, treatment planning, and overall understanding of cognitive and psychological functioning. Position Summary: The Psychometrist will play a crucial role in our practice by directly administering and scoring a variety of standardized psychological and neuropsychological assessment tools to patients under the direct supervision of the licensed psychologist. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain a comfortable and professional testing environment for individuals of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Administration:

    • Administer a wide range of in-person, one-on-one psychological and neuropsychological tests to patients aged 5 and up, including but not limited to the WAIS, WISC, NEPSY, WIAT, WRAT, and other specialized assessments, following strict standardized procedures.

    • Establish and maintain rapport with patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, to ensure optimal performance and cooperation during testing.

    • Monitor patient behavior and engagement throughout the assessment process, providing appropriate encouragement and breaks as needed.

  • Scoring & Data Management:

    • Accurately score psychological and neuropsychological tests according to established guidelines and manuals.

    • Document detailed behavioral observations during testing sessions, noting relevant qualitative information to aid in clinical interpretation.

    • Upload all assessment data and documented observations into the electronic health record (EHR) system in a timely and accurate manner.

    • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and records.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Prepare and organize testing materials for scheduled appointments.

    • Maintain inventory of testing protocols and materials, reporting needs for replenishment.

    • Assist with other clinical or administrative tasks as assigned by the supervising psychologist.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a closely related field (e.g., Cognitive Science, Human Development) is required.

  • Experience:

    • Entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply.

    • Prior experience in psychological test administration is strongly preferred.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Exceptional Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in test administration, scoring, and data entry is paramount.

    • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations (children, adolescents, adults, older adults) and the supervising psychologist.

    • Empathy and Patience: A genuine understanding and compassionate approach to working with individuals who may be experiencing cognitive or emotional challenges.

    • Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to manage changes in practice procedures or patient needs as the practice evolves.

    • Organizational Skills: Proficiency in managing multiple tasks, organizing materials, and maintaining a structured work environment.

    • Technical Proficiency: Comfort with computer systems and ability to quickly learn and navigate EHR software for data entry.

    • Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality at all times.

Working Conditions:

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $25.00 - $35.00 per hour.
