Testing Process
Step 1: If you do not have Medicaid, call your insurance to get an estimate of the cost of testing
We do not provide estimations of the cost of testing for people with commercial insurance. To get an estimate for the out of pocket costs of testing, please call the member services number on the back of your insurance card. Give them the following CPT codes, 1 unit of 90791, 1 unit of 96136, 7 units of 96137, 1 unit of 96130, and 5 units of 96131. We strongly recommend that you do this prior to calling us to get on the schedule, particularly if you are concerned about the costs of testing.
You will pay an additional $250 from what the insurance company quotes you to cover the cost of testing materials that is not covered by insurance.
Step 2: Scheduling Process
You can call or text us at 828.630.9347 or click here to schedule an initial phone call. During this initial conversation, you will provide us with your email address that we will use to create an account on our patient portal.
You will login to the patient portal and complete all available forms.
Once the forms on the patient portal are completed, we will add you to the schedule for your clinical interview appointment. We will not schedule anyone who has not completed their forms all the patient portal.
Step 3: Interview Appointment
During the scheduling process, we will send you a Google Meets invitation with instructions on how to login for your interview appointment. Your appointment should also be visible on your Google Calendar in case you forget.
During the interview appointment, your clinician will ask you questions about you or the patient’s life history, your background, what led you to decide to get testing, and other relevant information. The appointment will last approximately one hour.
On the day of your intake appointment, you will receive an email with links to a number of questionnaires that need to be completed. Completing these questionnaires allows us to see the full picture of your symptoms and how you or the patient behaves in a variety of settings, if applicable, and helps us to provide the most accurate testing and feedback process for you. Failure to complete the questionnaires on time may lead to delays in getting your results.
Step 4: In-Person Testing and Feedback Session
Please arrive at our physical location for testing at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
The cognitive testing typically takes between 2-4 hours, which may include a variety of activities that measure verbal skills, problem-solving abilities, tests of attention/concentration, and academic skills (e.g., reading, writing, and mathematics).
After testing is completed, your clinician may provide feedback on the results immediately after the testing is completed or a separate feedback will be scheduled by your clinician to review the results of the evaluation.
After the evaluation is completed, the full psychological evaluation report will be accessible to the patient or patient’s parent/legal guardian on the patient portal within one week.
